CHANGAN Automobile has reached a significant milestone with the commencement of workshop construction for its Thailand Manufacturing Base. This further underscores
the company's commitment to expanding its global presence and investing in Thailand.CHANGAN Thailand Manufacturing Base celebrated its grand groundbreaking in November 2023 at the fourth zone of WHA Industrial Park in Rayong Province. Hoisting its first steel column on February 14, 2024, signifies the construction's steady progress. The extensive area, covering approximately 600 acres (or approximately 1517.57 rai), involves a total investment of 8.8 billion Thai Baht. With steel structure work underway, the project is expected to complete the main roofing of various workshops by April 2024 and proceed with the installation of process equipment.
The CHANGAN Thailand Manufacturing Base will include state-of-the-art workshops for painting, assembly, welding, engine assembly, and battery assembly, alongside related supporting facilities. It underscores CHANGAN Automobile's dedication to deepening its localized operations in Thailand and serving the entire ASEAN region as well as the global right-hand drive market.
The first phase of the manufacturing base, scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2025, will have a designed capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year. Upon completion of the second phase, the total capacity will increase to 200,000 vehicles. This strategic initiative underscores CHANGAN Automobile’s strong commitment to its investments in Thailand and signifies a significant milestone in the company's global expansion strategy. It reinforces Thailand's pivotal role as CHANGAN Automobile's inaugural overseas production base, highlighting the company's unwavering dedication to establishing deep roots in the Thai market and serving the local community.
