
CHANGAN Automobile participated in the opening ceremony of the BOI Office in Chengdu, China, and the “China (Sichuan) – Thailand Investment and Economic Forum 2026” held at Tianfu International Conference Center, Chengdu.
On this occasion, Mr. Zhu Huarong, Chairman of CHANGAN Automobile, was honored to attend a meeting with H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, to highlight CHANGAN’s investment direction and strategic development plans in Thailand, the development of the electric vehicle (EV) industry, and potential collaboration between the public and private sectors to position Thailand as a regional EV manufacturing hub. CHANGAN was also the only automotive company granted the opportunity to meet with the Prime Minister during the event.
Mr. Zhu Huarong, Chairman of CHANGAN Automobile, said “Since establishing operations in Thailand in 2023, CHANGAN has been committed to long-term investment and continuously expanding our business under the Localization strategy. To date, CHANGAN has introduced 13 new energy vehicle models to the Thai market, achieving cumulative sales of more than 41,000 units. The company has generated over THB 1.6 billion in tax contributions, created more than 1,900 employment opportunities for Thai people, and achieved a workforce composition of over 90% Thai employees.
CHANGAN has invested more than THB 10 billion in establishing the ‘CHANGAN Automobile Rayong Factory’, the first production facility of CHANGAN Group outside China. The plant has already commenced production of the DEEPAL S05 and CHANGAN Q05 for the Thai market and global exports to 18 countries. In addition, CHANGAN has collaborated with more than 40 Thai parts manufacturers to advance its goal of achieving 60% local content utilization by 2028.”
Under its five-year business plan, CHANGAN aims to launch more than 10 new vehicle models by 2030 across its brands, including DEEPAL, AVATR, CHANGAN NEVO, and CHANGAN LCV, with a sales target of 70,000 units annually. The company also aims to become one of the top three automotive leaders in Thailand.
In terms of manufacturing expansion, CHANGAN plans to increase production capacity at its Rayong plant from the initial phase of 100,000 units per year to 200,000 units per year in the second phase. The company is currently studying Phase2 investment plans, alongside the establishment of a regional Research and Development (R&D) center to enhance innovation capabilities and support the advancement of Thailand’s automotive industry.
Furthermore, CHANGAN targets increasing local parts utilization (Localization) to more than 60% by 2028, while expanding employment opportunities and increasing the proportion of Thai employees to more than 90% by 2030.
The meeting reinforces CHANGAN’s strong commitment to long-term investment in Thailand and its continued collaboration with the Thai government in supporting EV industry development policies. Through investments in manufacturing capabilities, supply chain development, and technology transfer, CHANGAN aims to contribute to Thailand’s transformation into a regional hub for EV production and exports while strengthening the competitiveness and sustainable growth of Thailand’s automotive industry.
